Cookie Policy
Effective date: 12 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies NatalCalculator.com uses, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember preferences, to provide analytics, and (on many sites, but not ours) to track users across the web for advertising purposes.
Session and persistent cookies
Cookies are either session cookies or persistent cookies. Session cookies are stored temporarily in your browser's memory and deleted automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies are written to your device and remain until they expire or you delete them. The nc_prefs preference cookie we set is persistent, expiring after 12 months. It can be deleted at any time through your browser settings without affecting the site's core functionality.
Strictly necessary cookies
We use one cookie of this kind: nc_prefs, which stores your preferred zodiac system (tropical / sidereal) and house system (Placidus, Whole Sign, etc.) so that the calculator opens with the same defaults next time you visit. The cookie contains no personal information and expires after 12 months. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under EU law.
Analytics cookies
We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not set cookies on your device. Page-view counts are recorded server-side and aggregated in a way that does not allow individual visitors to be identified. There is therefore nothing to opt out of for analytics purposes.
Advertising cookies
We do not currently use advertising cookies. The site is supported by light, contextual display advertising on a small number of pages; the ad network we use does not set tracking cookies for behavioural advertising. If we change advertising arrangements in the future, we will update this policy and add a consent banner before any tracking cookie is set.
Third-party content requests
When the site loads, your browser fetches font files from Google Fonts CDN. This is a standard HTTP request — not a cookie — but Google may log request data (IP address, user agent, requested file) according to its own privacy policy. We use Google Fonts because it provides fast, reliable font delivery. If you prefer to block CDN requests entirely, you can do so via your browser's developer tools or a content-blocking extension; the site will fall back to system fonts.
How to control cookies
You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies, and to block cookies from specific sites. Note that blocking the strictly necessary cookie will simply mean your preferences are not remembered between sessions; the site will continue to function.
Do Not Track
Because we do not track users across the web, the Do Not Track browser signal does not change our behaviour. We respect it by default.
Changes
We will update this Cookie Policy if our use of cookies changes. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated on the changelog before they take effect.
